Is the U.S. Constitution still fit for democracy? In Episode 9 of Très Mall, we bring together three leading constitutional scholars to examine the structural problems built into America's political system and ask what it would take to change them.

Bruce Ackerman (Yale), Sanford Levinson, author of Our Undemocratic Constitution, and Lawrence Lessig (Harvard), a leading advocate for democratic reform, join the discussion on the Electoral College, the Senate, presidential power, and the growing gap between the will of the people and the institutions that govern them.

Drawing on sociologist Dov Cohen's research on Southern honor culture, this episode examines how traditions of hierarchy, dominance, and personal power can help illuminate the behavior of today's billionaire class. Billionaires own platforms instead of plantations. The comparison raises an uncomfortable question: how much have the underlying structures of domination changed, and how much have they simply adapted to a new economy?

Can the Electoral College be abolished? Does the Senate give disproportionate power to a minority of Americans? How does the legacy of slavery intersect with modern concentrations of wealth and executive power? And could a second constitutional convention offer a path toward meaningful democratic reform? The Constitution was written in 1787. Nearly 250 years later, should Americans rewrite the rules of their democracy?

Très Mall is an animated documentary series exploring politics, power, ideology, and the systems that shape American life.
